I work with adults by secure video in California or New York. I combine careful diagnosis, in-depth psychotherapy, and medication only when it is truly needed, with close attention to your day-to-day life and overall well-being.My work is especially suited for people who want more than brief, medication-only visits and are looking for a slower, more thoughtful approach.

My work is psychotherapy-led. We spend time understanding your history, relationships, and bodily experience, and how these are connected to the anxiety, depression, or other difficulties you’re living with now. I draw on psychodynamic and other evidence-informed approaches, with the goal of helping you feel more connected, less stuck, and more able to live in line with your own values.
I prescribe medication when it is clinically appropriate and aligned with your preferences. I also help people who feel over-medicated think through whether treatment can be simplified or carefully reduced. I do not prescribe controlled (scheduled) substances. Whatever we decide, the aim is that any medication you take is thoughtful, precise, and truly serving you.
Our work usually begins with one or more evaluation sessions to understand what is bringing you in, what you have already tried, and what you hope might be different. I will share my impressions and possible options, and we will decide together whether ongoing work with me feels like a good fit.
Consultation & SchedulingIf you’re interested in a consultation, you can book directly through the Headway or Alma portal or message me with a few times you’re available for a short phone conversation. During that call, we’ll clarify what’s concerning you and whether my approach is likely to be a good fit. Sessions are held by secure video for adults 18+ located in California or New York at the time of the visit.First SessionOur first meeting is focused on understanding you, not on rushing into a quick solution. I’ll ask about what brings you in now, your current symptoms, important relationships, medical and psychiatric history, and your previous experiences in therapy or with medication. You are free to share at your own pace; there are no “right” answers and no pressure to disclose more than you’re ready for.
Sometimes a single consultation provides enough clarity and recommendations; other times it becomes the beginning of an ongoing working relationship. Any next steps will be discussed and decided together, and I’m happy to provide referrals if I’m not the right match. After the EvaluationAfter the initial evaluation (which sometimes takes more than one session), I will share my impressions about what seems to be going on and discuss possible ways of working together. This may include psychotherapy alone, psychotherapy combined with medication, or—if I’m not the right fit—a referral to a different kind of service. You’ll have space to ask questions and decide whether continuing with me feels right.About medicationsWhen we consider medication, we’ll look carefully at potential benefits and risks, your past responses, and your preferences. I do not prescribe controlled substances, and I often help people simplify or reduce existing medications when this is safe and appropriate. Any medication decision is collaborative: nothing is started, stopped, or changed without your understanding and consent.Fees & InsurancePayment is due at the time of each appointment unless we make other arrangements. Some patients see me through Headway, where I am in-network with Aetna, Carelon Behavioral Health, and Quest Behavioral Health. Others see me privately on an out-of-network basis and submit superbills to their insurer for possible reimbursement. I recommend checking your plan’s mental health benefits, including out-of-network coverage and any visit limits, before we begin.
